Property description
ON THE TOP OF THE GRANAGLIONE MOUNTAIN
Incredible! It was the first thing I thought when Davide sent me photos of his castle on whatsapp.
And even more incredible was the emotion when with my faithful panda I walked the steep road that goes up from the town of Granaglione to the castle and I crossed the mammoth iron gate that surrounds the property!
But do you know a castle I've never been able to work on such an object! Actually no, a few years ago I sold to a customer who bought part of an ancient defense fortress from Germany.
But this is a whole castle!
I pass the gate and then arrive at the garden which is also a grassy parking lot.On the right there is an aedicule with a Madonna and a bench to admire the panorama. The view is impressive, it opens onto the whole valley of the Rhine that flows below...
The garden is all around and is very particular: flat and large, all bordered by very tall mountain pines.Immediately upstream there is a beautiful fountain with a large tank full of fish. All around there are concrete statues which, starting from the fountain, accompany the two stairways leading to the castle. From here I can only see the worked stone laces that emerge from behind the greenery.
I then take a walkway and pass a few stone steps and arrive at the actual castle.
An exciting building: exposed stone facade, columns and portico in front of the entrance. The very high pointed arch windows and the style in general reveal a recent origin of the structure...or rather a recent reworking because Davide, who in the meantime opened the door for me, tells me that the original building layout dates back to the Roman era.For centuries the castle was a bastion with control and sighting functions for troops moving across the narrow valley of the Reno, an almost obligatory step to reach Pistoia, Lucca and Florence.
This place was so important and precious that over the years the castle has been occupied and conquered by many different peoples and has also been destroyed and rebuilt several times.
All right.I pass the heavy door and enter the hall of the castle.
Now I'll give you a brief concise and very technical description of the structure
Approximately 450 m2 covered on 3 levels, distributed as follows:
On the first floor: large entrance hall, large living room, living room with fireplace and view of the rear gardens, a small bathroom/laundry room, eat-in kitchen, flat roof and a balcony
On the second floor: 6 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms
Attic, not habitable because it is only 1.20 m high,
walkable roof, very panoramic, flat with 51 photovoltaic panels and Wi-Fi antenna + 5g telephone antenna
On the ground floor there is a large garage with window, covered woodshed, room with
window and door, underground cellar, fenced garden of 4/5,000 m2,
predisposition for a small swimming pool.
Pool already because immediately on the border of the back garden there is an excavation of the right size and position to make a beautiful infinity pool, perhaps with a mobile and heated cover, to be able to use it all year round.
The rooms of the castle are very high as are the windows and the stained glass windows which were redone in white PVC only a few years ago.All bathrooms are new.
Many of the floors are in "potholes" decorated and designed differently in each room.
But I want to go back to talking about the roof: it's wonderful and disturbing because the panorama is super, but also the "jump" is so big! The panorama that can be observed through the lace of the castle is wonderful.
Davide tells me that part of the lace...continue on my site.
