Property description
THE HOUSE OF THE MUGNAIO
TREPIO Today I take you to one of those places that sometimes you see from the car "Look how beautiful" and you are already over...but with the curiosity to return.
Did it happen to you To me often and sometimes I came back and stopped...
To reach this place you have to pass the medieval village of Treppio, follow the road, go down to the stream and start walking backwards...after a few km you arrive at an open point. Here are three houses… all very characteristic!
The one below is the ancient water mill, the other two houses are higher, built in a workmanlike manner and with ancient knowledge using river stone.
I'm going to see what was once the trio's manor house.
Paolo and Francesca come from Florence, they bought their house a few years ago and they completely renovated it: "it was very ugly" says Paolo, "you could never believe it Lucie, it was very bad"
Small description useful to make the picture of the situation: the house is a terraced house.Leave the car down, along the road next to the ditch with trout and pond, go up a paved path that passes alongside the ditch. The fields around the path and the ditch are all of the house.
The house in front of you is all in exposed stone, two floors in the basement the living area and on the second floor the sleeping area, a few porches, a paving in front of the house and two next to it, the water pipe to water the vegetable garden further on...
"We fixed it all up, we made the most of everything that was there" continues Paolo "and inside there are some incredible things"
I enter, the first impact is one of those that take your breath away: a stone staircase and two rooms next to it, a living room with a turntable that plays and stylish lamps that project their light on the irregular walls, a dining room with a huge fireplace and farther on, a kitchen recovered to the maximum with even the sink of a stone vault! In the fireplace I also find the wood-burning oven for bread and pizza "It works, you know" says Francesca, "we occasionally use it for bread and roasts: you take the embers from the fireplace and put them in the oven"
"Fantastic" I say, "I've never seen something like this before."
I tell you only: tiny windows, large rooms with creaking floors in polished wood, exposed wood ceilings, irregular plaster with pastel colors like lime, chestnut doors with iron locks and brass handles, polished woods, old photos and prints on the walls, soft lights with the sun that leaves streaks of light in the air and just under the window a desk to read... but the most beautiful and precious thing is the private spring! The house is completely self-sufficient as regards the water supply, the surrounding wood offers free all the wood needed to heat up in winter and for hot water, the space to cultivate the vegetable garden completes the possibility of a total self-sufficiency!
The house is so full of beautiful things that you better look at the photos I can't describe them all...
Good vision!
