THE HOUSE AND THE CHESTNUT
CASTELLUCCIO This is one of those places that are very particular of our mountain, one of those places that have always fascinated me.. .
Rolling fields with stable grass, many fields, you know those with green grass that cows eat fresh in summer the one that turns yellow in winter In this area of my mountain these undulating fields are interspersed almost as if it were an irregular chessboard by woods of selected chestnut trees and oak woods for heating.
Here, in this natural context, the presence, work and history of the people who have inhabited these mountains for centuries, taming them and making them "home", are strongly perceived.
The road that leads to the house passes right in the middle of these fields and woods and offers with its gentle curves glimpses of exciting landscapes, light and dark as the light changes.
I leave the main street and look around, the view sweeps from the rolling hills, from here it rises to the jagged peaks of the mountains all around... here everything is green with fields and woods and further up there is only the blue sky!
And right at the end of the paved road there is an iron gate with a bell: I ring, the gate opens and I enter the garden.. .
The house is a free house on 4 sides: in front, about 5 meters from the gate, there is a centuries-old chestnut tree, I overtake it and another 20 meters up is the house.
The house is on three floors, on the ground floor with access to the ground there is a living area, a fully equipped kitchen, a bathroom and a large area with a closed veranda: it must be beautiful to live it in winter in the warmth of the stove with the snow that it goes down slightly outside.. .
I leave the house and turn to the other side, that area that in the picture can be seen flat and sunny with the bbq, the wood-burning oven, an even and sunny lawn in which today there is a mobile swimming pool. Contiguous to the house is the staircase leading to the terrace (it is above the veranda). Here is the real house with a long, narrow double-volume room with a wonderful majolica stove (a stube), an equipped kitchen, a study and a bathroom. From here an exposed wooden staircase takes me to the upper floor in the two attic rooms.. .
But now I go out and go back to the terrace: you can see everything in a very panoramic view!
Handsome!
I forgot to tell you that downstream and behind the wood-burning oven there are proprietary chestnut woods.
To be seen!
