It is the smallest of the four parishes of the municipality of Valongo but in terms of accessibility, Ermesinde has a privileged location and benefits greatly from being close to the major motorways A3 (Lisbon-Porto-Braga-Valenca) and the A4, A41, A28-A29 (Aveiro-Porto-Viana Freeway) passing relatively close by.
