Faro, Loule, Loule (Sao Clemente), Loule, Portugal Property ID: 28686136

Property description

Totally unique opportunity!

We are very proud to offer this grand colonial style property nestled into the hills of Loule but less than 15 minutes from the beach and golf courses of Quinta do Lago and Vilamoura – just look what you can get for your money here!

The villa is approached through electric gates into a huge calcada driveway perfect for parking numerous cars, there is then another set of gates opening into a courtyard with double garage where this proud mansion stands.

Going through the double doors, the spacious hallway is dominated by a sweeping staircase with a window at the top, allowing light to flood in. There are also numerous South African style feature brick archways. From here the house opens up in a very logical fashion and its ease of access also makes it perfect for a more mature resident.

The house is absolutely huge with nearly 800m2 of build and benefits from oil fired central heating, there are also five Fogo Montanha log burners throughout the house making it perfect for year round living. Of course, there is air conditioning too with solar panels on the roof.

On the ground floor there are two bedrooms both with patio doors, log burners and fitted wardrobes. One bedroom has an en-suite and there is also a bathroom with double basins next door.

The lounge, although large, manages to retain a cosy feel with a log burner and patio doors opening up to the wrap around terrace. There is then a separate dining room, a spacious high ceilinged TV/music room with log burner and patio doors. The designer ‘Rational’ German kitchen makes the most of natural brickwork features, with granite worktops, wine rack, central breakfast bar and fitted AEG appliances including a range style cooker. There is also a big storage area, wc and utility room with numerous appliances and outdoor courtyard and washing/drying area. From the kitchen there is a light and airy breakfast room, with bar area, sink and internal BBQ! Again this opens on to the terrace.

Now about this terrace! It has the feel of a conservatory but it is very grand, with 34 sliding patio windows, complete with fly screens – that gives you some idea of the size – it forms a U shape around three sides of the house and is perfect for summer or winter, again with another log burner!

Upstairs there are two further high ceilinged bedrooms with patio doors and en-suites. Bedroom three overlooks the tennis courts and bedroom four has panoramic views to the sea.

And there’s more! In the grounds overlooking the pool, there is a completely self-contained charming guest cottage – with kitchen, wc and shower room, living room with patio doors and double bedroom, again with feature brick archway.

Outside there is an extra-large 12m x 6m pool, tennis court and grounds with lawned terraces, mature shrubs, fruit and jacaranda trees and computer controlled irrigation. There is also a wild area which would be perfect for stables or a heli-pad. The metal fenced and hedged plot extends to 15,500 m2 and has all been lovingly tended by the owner who has called it his home for some years. The villa has not been used as a holiday home.

The grounds are completely private, not overlooked and has stunning views across to Vilamoura and the sea. In summary the perfect grand, year round family home, just minutes from shops, restaurants and supermarkets of this authentic market town.

About the area:

Loulé is famous throughout Portugal for hosting the biggest and most flamboyant Brazilian-style carnival each year before Easter. At carnival time the town is transformed into a mesmerising party of colour, music and dancing. The event attracts people from all over the Algarve who come to watch the processions and join in the festive atmosphere.

Loulé sits 12 km from the coastline of the 'Golden Triangle', an area which encompasses the luxury resorts of Vale do Lobo and Quinta do Lago.

The centre of the town is steeped in history. Its thirteenth century castle is built on an area previously settled by the Romans and its main church, Igreja Matriz de S.Clemente, was built on the site of an ancient mosque and also dates back to the thirteenth century. Loulé market hall (Mercado Municipal) is a striking landmark and an excellent example of classic Moorish architecture. It re-opened in early 2007 after a long period of renovation. Browse the town’s cobbled streets and you will see how Loulé has gained a reputation as the craft capital of the Algarve. Local handicrafts include ceramics, copperware, leatherwear, embroidered linen and tableware, quilts and lace, many of which can be purchased at the colourful Saturday gypsy market.

Some perks of owning property in Loule: Faro Airport is just 20 minutes’ drive away and is served by several low-cost airlines, it is traditional Algarve combined with modern living, just 10 minutes’ drive to the 'Golden Triangle' town of Almancil, easy access to excellent road and rail networks, close to world-renowned golf courses, a wide choice of local leisure activities for all ages including art galleries, swimming pools and a sports pavilion, a wealth of restaurants and bars serving international cuisine, traditional markets, numerous supermarkets, English-speaking banks, pharmacies, local health centres and other amenities. A new major retail outlet with Ikea and 110 shops, opening in 2017, is a short drive away, plenty of entertainment for the children in and around the area including Roma mini golf park in Vilamoura, Aquashow waterpark near Quarteira and the renowned Zoomarine centre in Albufeira.

If you are seeking a property in an authentic country town in the foothills of the Algarve mountains then search no further than Loulé. This town is one of the oldest in the region and is located just 18 km (11 miles) northwest of Faro.
