Overseas property news - Swimming pool shaped like a violin

Swimming pool shaped like a violin

Enter Jay Dweck. The former finance executive has splashed some of his cash on his own music-themed water feature. The inspiration? Stradivarius.

Jay already owns several rare violins, including a Stradivarius and a Guarneri, but while the music instruments are highly valuable and sound amazing, there is one thing he cannot do: swim in them.

Millions of dollars later and that is no longer a problem: Mr. Dweck is now the proud owner of a Stradivarius-shaped swimming pool.

Spanning 1,300 square feet, the design is based directly on his own 1717-made model, right down to the shape and colour. Chris Cipriano of Cipriano Landscape Design included 440,000 gradient glass tiles inside the pool. Still not impressed? Try several fibre optic strings, which light up in time with music.

As a designer, I had to advise them it was kind of a one-off and they might not get their return on investment,” said Cipriano. “But they weren’t concerned. The entire family plays violin and they are very invested in music.”

I got the idea for the pool in a funny way,” Jay told LoHud. “I have been playing the violin since I was eight and still am an amateur violinist. I also like lap swimming and I wanted a pool that was at least 80-90 feet, but Bedford has these restrictions about impervious structures and the pool was considered an impervious structure.”
