New girl's zooey deschanel gets new home

New Girl star Zooey Deschanel has bought herself a new home. The actress, who won audiences' hearts with turns in Elf and (500) Days of Summer, has made a name for herself through a string of kooky roles, as well as her own indie singer-guitar pop duo, which trades in distinctly kitsch retro beats.

Now, though, Deschanel has put down $4.5 million on a decidedly un-quirky property. The 5,166-squqare-foot home, located in Manhattan Beach, boasts six bedrooms, a large kitchen and 6.5 bathrooms. Gas fireplaces, a stone-paved patio an energy-saving lighting system are all included, reports Variety.

The property was bought by Deschenal and her fiancee, producer Jacob Pechenik, via a trust. The "quasi-Cape Cod/Colonial-style" property looks as normal as homes get, according to the photos digged up by Curbed, although the blog also notes that Deschanel already owns a vintage cottage in the Hills.
