Sixties star adores france
Sixties crooner Sandie Shaw has been singing the praises of the Government in France, where she spends half the year at her Dordogne water mill...
'Here liberty, fraternity and equality appear to be the real thing,' says the 63-year-old.
'At the bank you can get an interest-free loan to make your house eco-friendly, two per cent on current accounts, five per cent on savings and special mortgages for first-time buyers.'
In France, the Government encourages home-ownership by offering first-time buyers on low incomes up to 20 per cent off the loan's interest for five years.
'The health care is also great,' says Sandie. 'I had an impressive example of this when I had an emergency gall bladder problem.'
