Brazil: record tourist numbers
Brazilian property investors may be interested to learn that a record
11 million tourists visited Sao Paulo
last year...
The figures were released by Sao Paulo Turismo (SPTuris), which promotes
tourism in the city, and show a 2.8 per cent increase in the number of visitors
compared to 2007, Brazzil Magazine reports.
Of the total tourists who visited the city, 1.7 million were foreigners, and
collectively they spend £2.3 billion, representing a 2.47 per cent increase on
the previous year, according to the news provider.
A survey by SPTuris found that the English were among the most common
foreigners visitors to Sao Paulo.
The main reason for people visiting the city was business, with over half of
respondents saying that was why they had travelled to Sao Paulo, followed by visiting relatives and
friends at 20.7 per cent and leisure at 13.6 per cent.
Brazil
has seen some famous tourists recently, with actors Matthew McConaghey and Jude
Law spending time on holiday in the country.
