Sofia suffers transport ‘setback’

Sofia city recently hall announced plans to increase public transport fares at of the beginning of March, citing rising costs due to inflation. It is yet to be decided how high the hike will go, but reports say the price of the ticket is likely to increase from BGN 0,70 to BGN 1.

The monthly subscription card is expected to cost BGN 40, up by BGN 3 from its current level. The increase in ticket prices is not accompanied by a tangible increase in people's income, which hardly presents a strong case for the new fares.
