Charlize theron sells la loft at mad discount

The actress has been surrounded by the word "mad" for some time, thanks to her recent turn in the blisteringly over-the-top actioner Mad Max: Fury Road. George Miller's sequel, which saw Theron team up with Tom Hardy in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, steamrollered its way to victory at the Oscars last week, taking home six awards - the most given to any film on the night.

Off the screen, though, Charlize has not enjoyed the same level of success in the crazy world of real estate.

The Broadway Hollywood Lofts pad was snapped up by the actress for $2.75 million back in 2007, reports Variety, bagging her one bedroom and two bathrooms, along with a stainless steel kitchen and living and dining areas boasting foor-to-ceiling windows. They open on to terraces, one with a view of the Capital Records building, while a third terrace is up a floating steel staircase and offers an outdoor fireplace and city view.

The penthouse condo is one of many in the building to be owned by celebrities, with residents including Jason Statham, Jack Osbourne and Wilmer Valderrama.

Theron will no longer be one of them, though, after parting with the pad for $1.75 million. The bad news? It's a loss of $1 million on her original asking price. On the one hand, that will come as a serious blow to her house-buying budget. On the other hand, she can evidently afford to take the loss. Although you can bet that she was a little (ahem) Furiosa about it.
