Happy shoppers? Fewer buying days until christmas

There are fewer shopping days before Christmas this year, consumers have been warned.

Due to a trick of the calendar, which Sees Thanksgiving fall on 28th November in the US, there will be 25 days for shopping between Black Friday and Christmas in 2013, the lowest number of shopping days in 10 years.

Last year, shoppers had 31 days to buy their Christmas presents, but gift hunters will be feeling the pressure this year, with only four full weekends between Thanksgiving and Christmas compared to five in 2012.

MarketWatch also cites a study from Challenger Gray & Christmas, which notes that staff levels may be lower too, amid “shaky consumer confidence and increased efficiencies among retailers”.
