Bulgaria in tourism cash boost

The Bulgarian tourism industry is set to benefit from a huge investment influx in 2009...

According to Bulgaria's State Tourism Agency, a total of BGN 8m has been earmarked for spending on tourism advertising at home and abroad in 2009.

The news was announced Friday by the head of Bulgaria's State Tourism Agency, Aneliya Krushkova, who took part in the presentation of the Agency's progress with the two national programs for the development of eco-tourism and rural tourism.

The State Tourism Agency will spend BGN 5,785 M for advertising the Bulgarian tourism sector at home in an attempt to keep Bulgarians for vacations in the country. The funds will go to Bulgarian TV and radio stations as well as to print media.

The Agency is going to spend BGN 2.2M for advertising Bulgaria's tourism abroad - on the CNN and Eurosport channels as well as in Russia and Romania.

Increased exposure for Bulgaria may well increase tourist arrivals, which will have a positive knock-on effect for property owners in the country.
