Us travelers prefer rental property to hotels

US travelers increasingly prefer rental properties to hotel, according to research by TripAdvisor.

The travel site's annual survey of 1,800 respondents found that 59 per cent of respondents plan to stay at a vacation rental this year, up from 52 per cent in 2014.

87 per cent said they are more likely to book a vacation rental due to the increased availability of online information, such as traveler reviews and photos.

62 per cent they would be inclined to choose rental accommodation over hotel due to lower costs, while 71 per cent highlighted the larger volume of living space.
