Europe enjoys “bumper summer” of tourism
Europe has enjoyed a bumper summer of tourism, according to The Overseas Guides Company.
Editor Richard Way explains that many European destinations have enjoyed strong tourism figures in the summer of 2013, with Spain’s international arrivals up almost 3 per cent year-on year as of July 2013, Greece’s visitor numbers at record levels and France remaining the most visited country in the world. Now, airlines are launching – and often extending – routes for 2014’s peak season.
Way coments: "Is it too optimistic to expect an uplift in second home purchases to follow in 2014 - especially with euro mortgage rates at record lows and the exchange rate knocking on the door of £1/€1.20?"
“The statistics suggest the Mediterranean lifestyle is still hugely in demand, but Brits and other foreigners are just waiting for the right time to invest in their own slice of it.”
