Overseas property news - Irish demand outpaces supply

Irish demand outpaces supply

Demand for property in Ireland is outpacing housing supply, according to the latest report from estate agency Sherry FitzGerald.

The report shows that 34,200 sales took place in the first nine months of 2015, up 21 per cent on the same period in 2014. Only 32,400 residential units were advertised sale, though, representing 1.7 per cent of the country's total second-hand housing stock. Supply in Cork fell 19 per cent year-on-year, while sales jumped 25 per cent to 3,500.

Price growth moderated, but Dublin continued to enjoy strong price growth, while prices in Cork rose by almost 10 per cent (although this was down from 17.9 per cent in 2014).
