Turkish holidays now one-third cheaper thanks to strong sterling
The strong sterling has made holidays in Turkey one-third cheaper.
Turkey's lira has plummeted in value in the past month following political and financial uncertainty, which some property analysts have hailed as a chance to snap up affordable real estate in the country's booming market. Now, tourists are enjoying the fallout too, with the improving pound meaning that holidaymakers exchanging £100 now will receive around 355 lira, up from 260 lira this time last year.
With the exception of the Icelandic krona (-7.2% year-on-year) sterling has strengthened against every holiday currency since last year," a spokesman for the Post Office Travel Money told The Telegraph.
