Sun-loving scots target turkey

According to King World Travel, thousands of people were currently looking to snap up last-minute holiday deals to countries such as Turkey, wit a small amount also looking to make the move permanent.

Jackie Sindlay, manager of the company's branch in Paisley, commented: “Last summer was terrible and families just want to finally get some sun."

She added: “Long-haul destinations outside of Europe are also proving to be popular with Scottish consumers. This could be good news for overseas property investors in these areas, as it means that demand for rental accommodation will be high”.

According to the Association of British Travel Agents, about 3.5 million people in the UK spent the Christmas and New Year season abroad.
