Cheap flights boost for béziers
New flights to Beziers in France are set to boost property prices…
The Languedoc-Roussillon region is already something of a hotspot for UK holiday home hunters, with around 10% of all holiday homes in the area owned by Brits, according to local newspaper Le Gazette; however, the launch of a new low cost air connection on 31 March is set to boost its property mecca credentials even further.
Ryanair will run three flights a week from Bristol to Béziers - Cap d'Agde airport, situated in the Hérault département, and the area's tourist body (the Comité Départementale du Tourisme, or CDT) is bracing itself for a huge influx of anglophone visitors by offering local business owners training courses in English and other necessary skills.
Huge infrastructure investment
The new route brings the number of Languedoc airports with direct UK connections to five, the others being Carcassonne, Perpignane, Nîmes and regional capital Montpellier.
Alex Charles of Languedoc holiday home sales and rental specialists Crème de Languedoc is optimistic about the area's investment potential: “Béziers has invested huge amounts already in its infrastructure, improving and developing the town Centre, its outlying areas and access routes, and its ambitious programme for continued growth and improvement makes it a hot tip for investors, or anyone looking to buy a holiday home in a truly up-and-coming destination in the south of France."
He added: Beziers also has one of the best rental yield figures for the whole region - a healthy 5.6% (figures from FNAIM - French national estate agents federation) - which beats it nearby rivals in Montpellier, Perpignan, Nîmes and Sèteâ€.
