French riviera agents enjoy "huge increase" in activity
Estate agents in the French Riviera are enjoying a "huge increase" in activity this year.
"The first six months of 2015 has been the busiest we have seen it since we started the company back in 2004," says Tim Swannie, Director of luxury property specialists Home-Hunts. "We have a seen a huge increase in enquiries (60 per cent up on 2014) which has obviously led to a sharp increase in viewings, offers and sales."
"It is a unique time for the French Riviera property market because asking prices have dropped over the past few years and when you put that together with the low mortgage rates AND the amazing exchange rates on offer, there has not been a better time to buy in more than ten years and savvy buyers are realising this," he continues, listing enquiries from places as diverse as Lebanon, Dubai, Russia, India, South Africa, Hungary, Holland, Belgium, Germany and all of the Scandinavian countries.
Swannie highlights four key hotspots: the area around Valbonne and Mougins, with "many good and reasonably priced restaurants in this area" and "the best international schools". The Valbonne area is also highlighted for its "enduring desirability" and easy access to the Coast.
Villefranche-sur-Mer and Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat have also attracted a "large share of enquiries and sales in 2014", thanks to its beautiful views and proximity to Monaco.
Cannes and Cap d'Antibes, well known for their beaches, exclusivity and year-round activities also continue to be highly popular. Saint Tropez, though, is singled out as the "most coveted location on the Riviera".
