Defiant bulgaria set to soar
Bulgaria’s Minister of Finance is in a bullish mood over economic growth…
According to Peter Dimitrov, the Bulgarian economy will grow 6% per year even after 2008. Speaking in Plovdiv earlier this week, the Government Minister was emphatic in his beliefs, adding that Bulgaria would prosper "in defiance of the current economic crisisâ€.
This is a view shared by researchers from Bulgarian Economic Development Center (BEDC), who predicted recently that the country’s economic growth for 2008 will be 6%.
Georgi Prohaski, spokesperson for BEDC, commented: “Predictions of a two digit inflation rate in Bulgaria for 2008 are unrealistic, and if the harvest of crops goes as planned the overall growth rate of the economy might be even higher than 6%â€.
