The Autodromo Internacional do Algarve remains en-route for Formula 1 with Renault and Williams presenting the R29 and FW31 cars for the new season this week at the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve, which is considered one of the world's best circuits.

Furthermore, Toyota and McLaren were also present, making their world premiere on the racetrack, while Toro Rosso employed the 2008 SR3 car.

The plaudits go to Pedro de la Rosa who beat the track record of one minute 28.719 seconds, placed the McLaren MP4-24 in second place, and Toro Rosso's Sebastien Buemi who recorded the best lap time.

Driver Nico Hulkenberg said, "It is a very wide and very secure track. I like it a lot; it is very varied, with areas of ups and downs as well as fast and slow curves."

Renault's Fernando Alonso and Nelson Piquet said, "Safety immediately jumps out at you. The track is very safe, so we are pleased. I also realize that it is going to be a great challenge."

Brazilian racer Nelson Piquet Junior said, "It is one of the best circuits I have been on.I wish Formula 1 would have a race here, because it would be like being at home, enjoying a fantastic track," he said.
