Half a million carbon credits donated to world cup

The 2014 FIFA World Cup's carbon footprint is an estimated 1.4 million tonnes, but donations from domestic companies or multinational firms have totalled over 500,000 ceertified emissions reductions. Tractebel Energia S.A. has donated the most with 105,000 Cers to their name, reports Reuters, with the total number received expected to offset almost 40 per cent of the greenhouse gas emissions of the tournament.
