"There are some places where people are just a little more stuck up than others," writes Movoto on their blog. We are inclined to agree - and not very surprised at which places were ranked as the snobbiest in the US.
The research compared eight factors from the 2010 U.S. Census and business listings about different cities, including the median home price, median household income, per cent of population with a college degree, number of private schools per capita, number of parforming arts per capita, number of art galleries per capita, number of fast food restaurants per capita (the fewer the better) and country clubs per capita (the more the better).
Out of all of the towns, Pasadena, California, was ranked as the snobbiest, just ahead of Thousand Oaks, also in California. Indeed, The Golden State lives up to its nickname, home to the glamour of Los Angeles and Orange County and also responsible for four of the top 10 snobbiest locations in America. Fort Lauderdale in Florida ranked in sixth place, thanks to its yacht-loving residents, high volume of country clubs and fourth best art galleries per capita.
Here are the top 10:
1. Pasadena, CA
2. Thousand Oaks, CA
3. Alexandria, VA
4. Naperville, IL
5. Santa Rosa, CA
6. Fort Lauderdale, FL
7. Glendale, CA
8. Sunnyvale, CA
9. Fullerton, CA
10. Eugene, OR
