The movie star couple have long had their own separte love affair with France, renting out am estate in Provence in 2008 before buying it wholesale in 2011. The remote, beautiful estate of Château Mirava is "tucked away in its own private valley in the ancient village of Correns", says its official website.

Indeed, the Château, which is surrounded by olive trees and vineyards, produces a well-respected rosé, which was - ABC News notes - ranked in the Wine Spectator's Top 100 bottles of 2013.

In 1970, the site was purchased by well-known jazz pianist Jacques Loussier, who turned it into a recording studio, home to the likes of Sting, Pink Floyd and The Gipsy Kings. That starry history has continued in glamorous fashion thanks to Brangelina's decision to buy it as their summer getaway.

They have "given impetus to the heart of the estate as a place dedicated to the arts – music, cinema, theatre, local food and fine wine", says the Château's site.

Was the property, which includes a chapel as well as stunning natural scenery, always part of their plan to one day marry? That is destined to remain private, but Pitt has made no secret of how he swooned for the vineyards as much as his new wife.

"It’s very peaceful and the antithesis of the drive, the want, the need to get ahead indicative of life in Hollywood," he told Wine Spectator in June.

"I’m instantly reminded what quiet sounds like."
