French unemployment hits record high
French unemployment hit a record high in February, according to the country's labor ministry.
Job seekers climbed 0.9 per cent to a record of 3.348 million in February, 4.7 per cent higher than last year. While traditionally unemployment has been affecting younger people around the world, the over-25 bracket suffered the biggest rise in unmployment, with the number of job seekers between 25 and 49 years old climbing 1 per cent, ahead of the 0.3 per cent growth in those aged under 25.
