Following our World Cup predictions, which forecast an overall victory for the USA, TheMoveChannel.com follows the FIFA tournament through every stage, highlighting a property Match of the Day.

Italy's property market has enjoyed a strong rebound in recent months, as positive sentiment and lifestyle appeal draw buyers back to the Riviera and the shores of Lake Como. Unfortunately for Italy, though, England's property market has been booming for a lot longer - and there can be only one winner in the #TMCWorldCup.

London is, of course, England's star property player, driving home on-target strikes in the price growth areas, with values leaping 9.1 per cent and 5.6 per cent in the last 12 months and six months respectively - significantly higher than Italy's 4.8 per cent slide and, indeed, so high that UK Chancellor George Osborne has now introduced lending caps to try and prevent a housing bubble.

Outside of specific locations, such as the capital, the UK as a whole, though, is where people look for real estate: Google searches for property in England totalled a mere 90 in May 2014, dwarfed by Italy's 3,860. Nonetheless, England's astonishing (or concerning) capital price growth means that enquiries for English property are equally strong (12.79 per cent vs 2.92 per cent), taking the country right into Italy's six-yard box for an easy win. Seller confidence has also pushed listings in England up to an unrivalled 262,750, sealing the victory to make it England 4, Italy 1.
