Don't miss deadline for french social charge refund, advise experts
Claims for refunds of French social charges must be filed on time to be successful, legal experts are advising foreign property owners.
Earlier this year, it was ruled that the taxation of social charges on income-generating French assets belonging to non-residents was illegal, a decision from the Conseil d’Etat and the European Court of Justice that has seen those registered with social security schemes of other EU states file for refunds of the 15.5 per cent levy.
However, Loic Raboteau, French Legal Advisor and Director with Francophile Legal Consulting, warns that any tax claims must be filed by 31st December of the second year following the year in which the tax was paid.
