Savoie is all set for ski property investment, according o SkiingProperty.com.
The site says that the increasing safe haven status of quality ski accommodation will drive up demand for ski resorts in the French Alps, highlighting Savoie and Haute Savoie as most likely to benefit thanks to their “excellent access” from Europe.
Indeed, convenient travel and a weaker euro have combined to make conditions favourable in the Alps, with promising snow conditions making this year’s ski season even more appealing. The arrival of the Winter Olympics is February is the icing on the investment cake.
Director at Skiingproperty.com Julian Walker said: "Buyers unsure of where to start their hunt for a ski home in France should take into account how easy it is to reach many resorts in Savoie and Haute Savoie now - compared to other resorts across the Alps. This is thanks to a combination of improved air, road and rail travel options, and short transfer times. This not only makes a property more convenient for its owner but increases its rental appeal, both in the winter months and during the summer season.”
Walker highlights resorts such as the popular Tignes, Val d'Isère, Courchevel, Méribel and La Plagne, each of which has direct transfers by bus or taxi from the Eurostar station at either Bourg-St-Maurice, Aime-la-Plagne or Moûtiers.
Added Julian Walker: “This sort of access makes long weekends in one of these resorts a viable option - jumping on Eurostar's overnight ski train in London or hopping on a flight out of London City or Gatwick on a Friday evening means either way you can be on the slopes on the Saturday morning.”
