New year, new zealand-style
Join the revellers at the Rhythm & Vines festival, and be among the first in the world to see in the New Year...
Be the first in the world to see the sunrise in 2009 at the Rhythm &
Vines festival in New
Zealand, a three-day musical extravaganza set
against the beautiful backdrop of the Waiohika
Estate vineyards in Gisborne.
And what better way to see in the New Year than to a fabulous soundtrack from
some of the world's top musical acts? Party on down!
Acts confirmed for the three-day festival include Franz Ferdinand, Shihad, The
Kooks, Public Enemy, Santogold, Ladyhawke, Late of The Pier, The Mystery Jets,
Jamie Lidell, Carl Cox, Digitalism and Adam Freeland to name but a few.
Taking place from 29th December to 1st January, the best local talent will play
alongside a host of top international artists, with over 120 performances
across four stages.
Now in its sixth year, Rhythm & Vines focuses on bringing fun-loving people
together in one of New
Zealand's most scenic and sunny locations.
The line-up for this year's event is also it's most ambitious to date and looks
set to be huge, "We hope music lovers will be excited about the direction
that Rhythm & Vines is heading in. We're very proud to be promoting so much
Kiwi talent this year, alongside a massive international line-up," says
Program Director and founder of the event, Hamish Pinkham.
And the fun doesn't stop at Waiohika Estate. Rhythm & Vines also offers a
full week of beachside action from 27th December until the 2nd
January at the ‘BW Campgrounds'. Located just ten minutes from the main
festival site, the camp will include surf competitions, volley ball
tournaments, competitions, celebrity appearances, and the massively popular BW
Bikini Jam, with a show-stopping line up of pre- and after-parties.
This year, due to increased demand for tickets, there will also be an
additional camping area called ‘Band Camp' - the perfect place to chill out
away from the hustle and bustle of the main camping areas, it is just 700m away
from the beach. So, if you want to make the most of your stay in
Gisborne, dust off that bikini, crack open the sunscreen and take full
advantage!
Launched in 2003, Rhythm & Vines was the brainchild of university chums
Hamish Pinkham and Tom Gibson, who decided to organise an event at a
scenic, central. The next step was teaming up with local Gisborne lad Andrew
Witters, who agreed to use the amazing purpose-built concert amphitheatre at
Waiohika Estate for their inaugural event. Since then, the festival has gone
from strength to strength with this year's line up looking to be the best yet!
