Sold: ferris bueller's home off the market

That was the sound of brokers five years ago trying to sell the home made famous by Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
The seminal 1980s movie saw Matthew Broderick's Ferris skip school for the day, borrowing a car and bumming around trying to avoid being detected. The screen was almost stolen, though, by the home that was on-screen: a modernist property designed by A. James Speyer in 1953.
Built in 1953, the four-bedroom home is well known for its eye-catching glassy extension, which showcases cars like a professional showroom - and, on screen, saw Ferris's friend, Cameron, trash his dad's Ferrari.
While Bueller had a great 24 hours, the home has had a painful five years: it was listed on the market in 2009, then relisted in 2011 with an asking sum of $1.65 million. After no one took the bait, it was listed once more in 2013 for $1.5 million before its price tag was cut a third time to $1.295 million.
Now, though, it has finally been snapped up for $1.06 million. Who wishes they had spent the last five years saving up enough to afford it themselves? Anyone? Bueller?
