Missouri woman accused of renting out someone else’s home

Amanda Paris allegedly promised the families that they would be the sole occupant of the property after she moved out in the autumn, according to The Kansas City Star. The house, though, did not belong to her: she was apparently already renting the home from its owner.

A local TV station’s news programme reported that the 44 year old woman began renting the house from Jamie Stidham in July 2013, although her deposit of $3,000 originally bounced.

Blue Springs police were later informed by six different individuals that they had been tricked out of deposits or rental payments, explains The Star. Paris was then charged with six counts of “stealing by deceit”.

“‘She said she was the owner,” Danielle Niccoli, who along with her husband and five children planned to move in during September, told Fox 4 News. “She said she was moving to Omaha, because she got a job and needed to rent the house out while she was away.”

They reportedly gave Paris all of their savings to rent the home but never received a key for the home. She also did not return their phone calls.

“The very next day I got a call from a neighbor,” Stidham told FOX 4 News. “He said I’ve got a family, the Niccoli family, sitting in my living room crying and upset.”

Paris has reportedly pocketed $9,650 in deposits from the duped tenants.
