Draft law to allow russian seizure of foreign assets?
A draft law could give permission for the seizure of foreign assets in Russian territory, reports Reuters.
The proposal follows the seizure by Italian authorities of approximately €30 million of rela estate owned by an ally of President Vladimir Putin.
If approved, the law, intended as a response to Western sanctions, would allow the seizure of foreign state assets in Russia, even those subject to international immunity. It would also green-light compension to Russian citizens who suffer from an "unlawful court art" (seizure of property) in a foreign jurisdiction.
