Indeed, four in 10 Brits are looking to find winter warmth overseas, according to the ABTA. The upcoming festive season is the main driver of enthusiasm, with 19 per cent of Brits planning to go on vacation this winter.
Winter sports are equally popular, with 15 per cent of those planning a trip intending to base it around skiing or snowboarding. The younger tourists are the ones hoping to hit the slopes; 44 per cent of 16 to 24 year olds said they were planning a winter sporting session during their sojourn, compared to just sitting in a chair.
Dawn Cavanagh-J-Hobbs comments: "Italy has always been a top choice for both winter sun and winter sports holidays. Here in Le Marche we are just a stone's throw from the Sibillini Mountains, where skiing, snowboarding and sledging are all extremely popular during the winter months. Many of our owners are keen to have these activities so nearby, and of course they love the bright, sunny days that Italian winters provide in such abundance."
