Developers are continuing to offer attractive discounts on new build properties to stimulate sales in a coolng market. In response, sellers of existing homes are also offering discounts to compete, prompting transactions to jump 20 per cent month-on-month,

Whether buyers are taking advantage of developer deals or turning to homeowners who are rivalling the offers, the discounts certainly appear to be working: in total, there were 5,270 transactions in May, according to Knight Frank, 10 per cent higher than the previous month and the highest level of the past 15 months.
