Medieval second home
The remains of a medieval village in Northern Portugal are to be converted into a second-home destination...
Lisbon-based developers Catarino Group will restore 52 restored stone cottages built on the site of a 700-year-old village, while maintaining the original rustic style.
The project, Povoa Dao, is situated about an hour's drive from Porto international airport, 13 kilometers south of the city of Viseu in the Dão region. The River Dão runs through the heart of the project.
Catarino Group has so far spent around £3 million on renovation work, including a swimming pool and tennis court.
The selection of one and two-bedroom cottages are designed in a simple farm style, with pine floors and stone fireplaces. Prices start from £144,000.
