Tourists advised not to travel to nepal after earthquake
British tourists are being advised not to travel to Nepal following a tragic earthquake, which occurred on 25th April.
The quake devastated buildings and killed more than 3,000 people on Saturday. Around 40,000 British nationals visited Nepal in 2013, but companies are now offering refunds on upcoming trips to the popular destination.
"The FCO advise against all but essential travel to Nepal," warns the Foreign Commonwealth Office. "If you’re in a safe place, you should stay where you are until it’s safe to leave. You should follow any advice provided by the local authorities. If you can leave Nepal safely then you should do so."
"Because of the exceptional current circumstances, if you’re travelling from Nepal to a third country via India, you don’t need to get a transit visa. You can get a landing permit on arrival at Delhi or Kolkata airport by emailing controlroom@mea.gov.in or calling + 91 2301 4104 in advance. Permits are valid for 2 weeks and can’t be renewed."
