Would you buy a haunted home? Most would
Most people would be willing to buy a haunted home, according to a new survey from Realtor.com.
The poll found that more than one-third of buyers reported living in a haunted house – or one that they suspected to be haunted. 63 per cent said that they would be happy to buy a haunted home, or at least consider it.
Fewer, though, would be willing to pay the full market value for the haunted property. Indeed, 41 per cent said that the purchase price would have to be reduced by at least 30 per cent to make them consider the transaction. It is common for “stigmatised houses”, where deaths have occurred, to sell at a significantly discounted rate in an attempt to find a buyer willing to live with the potentially upsetting history on their doorstep.
