"intense interest" in greek islands for sale
There has been "intense interest" in Greek islands from wealthy investors in recent months.
At the end of 2014, there were 20 private islands in Greece up for sale, according to the Wall Street Journal, with no shortage of wealthy buyers seeking a safe haven for their capital. Ekaterina Rybolovleva, the 25-year-old daughter of Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovleva, bought the island of Skorpios from the granddaughter of a shipping magnate for a rumoured £100 million.
"After Skorpios was sold, and especially during the past year, there has been an intense interest in the islands' market," Alexandros Moulas of Savills told Property Showrooms. "An intermediate usually gets in touch with us and the name of the actual investor is kept a closely guarded secret."
