Platinum struggles against dollar's strength

Platinum is struggling against the strong dollar. The US economy is enjoying a steady recovery at present, which has helped the dollar to climb against other currencies. This rise, though, combined with industry strikes and weak gold values has seen the price of the precious metal fall, causing platinum futures to drop to a five-year low of $1,263.60 per ounce this week.
