Brody doesn't live here: homeland house sells within 24 hours

That did not stop buyers flocking to own a slice of TV history, though, as Sergeant Brody’s house hit the market and sold within 24 hours.

The one-storey property, located in Charlotte, North Carolina, was listed by Vicki Tetreault, who has lived there since her childhood, earlier this month. The house boasts four bedrooms, two and a half baths and air-condition, in addition to a half-acre lot.

It gained notoriety when it was picked as a filming location for Homeland, becoming the residence for the main character, Sgt. Brody (Damien Lewis). Vicki described it as “an honour to be chosen”, even though she had never even watched the programme.

Vicki did meet most of the cast, though, while onlookers hoped to do the same, appearing outside the front of the property to take photos.

As Homeland season three returns to UK TV screens next week, the show has built a set where they shoot most of the interior shots for the home, so the cast and crew don't come out to the home very often.

“Last year I thought I'd put a sign out sayin' ‘Brody doesn't live here,’ you know?” she said to WCNC in January.

The realtor responsible for the sale said that its starring role on TV was only a “minor selling point”, reports The Daily Mail, but that did not stop house hunters pouncing on the listing, which joked “you’ve probably already seen it”.

The home sold in just one day, receiving five offers above its asking price of $394,000.

The show has since built interior sets to replicate the inside of the home, meaning that the property is less visited by the cast and crew – perhaps to the disappointment of its new owner. Not that they would have cable to watch the show anyway.

Dexter filming locations mapped out

As Homeland prepares to return to our TV screens, Dexter makes his departure. The Showtime series came to an end on Sunday in America, but Dexter Morgan left behind a range of real estate memories, from his apartment complex to the home owned by his other half, Rita.

The majority of series was filmed in Southern California, with Dexter’s flat one of the few places that not only exists in real life but is located in Miami: the Bay Harbor Club condos. Rita’s house, meanwhile, is in Long Beach, California.

Curbed has a round-up of where Dexter’s homes are.
