Indeed, the country’s favourable exchange rates make the property in the country relatively affordable, while attractive coastlines, game reserves and the beautiful landscape of the African bush can provide strong holiday letting returns.

Gondwana Game Reserve, for example, is a five-star bush resort which can provide 27,000 acres of wilderness to explore alongside surfing and golf – experiences that are winning over holiday home hunters as well as tenants. The resort is the only game reserve in the Southern Cape with units on the market, offering residents sights of major game animals, including lions, elephants, rhinos, leopards and buffalos. Freehold plots of 2.5 acres start from one million ZAR, or, for British buyers, just £65,000.
