British building in indonesia
Design plans for the new British Embassy in Jakarta have been finalised by The Foreign and Commonwealth Office
Designed by HOK, the global architecture firm, the new British Embassy, at just over 40,000 square foot, is due for completion in 2011.
Set on a 3.7 acre site, the building will wrap around a central courtyard.
HOK's Project Director Andrew Barraclough, said, "This has been a challenging project, balancing the climate, security and solidity with environmental concerns."
BREEAM, which is the world's most widely used means of reviewing the environmental performance of buildings and is regarded as the measure of best practice in environmental design and management, has assessed the new embassy plans as excellent.
