Iron Man himself snapped up the ranch-style house this month in the expensive area of Los Angeles. While it cost a cool $2.5 million, though, the Avengers' new abode is far from the Hollywood glamour you would expect for a superhero. Indeed, it could not be more different from the flashy beachside pad owned by Tony Stark on-screen.
Built in 1947, it is a modest single-storey affair, with two bathrooms and an open plan living room featuring floor-to-ceiling windows and a fireplace.
RealEstalker reckons the bedrooms have been recently remodelled and notes that the garage has been converted into a recording studio. Either way, compared to Downey Jr.'s other entries in his large LA portfolio - including a Rustin Canyon home and a Malibu compound with an ocean view, both boasting bigger price tags - this latest addition is either a distinctly low-key getaway or a place for friends or family to crash.
