Brazil shoots and scores

The Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) has confirmed 12 Brazilian cities will play host to the World Cup in 2014, after the president of Fifa, Sepp Blatter, permitted the country to increase the original limit of ten cities...

Porto Alegre, Florianopolis, Curitiba, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, Goiania, Campo Grande, Cuiaba, Rio Branco, Manaus, Belen, Salvador, Recife, Natal, Fortaleza and Sao Paulo are all in the running.

Fifa will assess the 17 candidate cities during a swift one-week tour beginning on January 30th.

Anyone thinking of buying property in Brazil will be keeping one eye on which cities are selected for the tournament. Host cities will undoubtedly attract greater inward investment, infrastructure improvements, and potential property price growth. Sao Paulo and Rio Janeiro are expected to open and close the tournament.
