Norwegian town lit by giant mirrors

For five months of every year, the Norwegian town has no direct sunlight whatsoever. Nestled between mountains, the peaks are too high for the low winter sun, which struggles to shine into the town. But the local officials have come up with a new solution to bring sunlight to the town for the first time: giant mirrors.
The computer-controlled devices will bounce the light from the sun into the town, illuminating the 3,000 villagers. Previously, they used to have to take a cable car to the top of the mountains to get their Vitamin D.
The project costs roughly $825,000, reports PSFK, which will install 100 square-metre solar-powered mirrors with sensors to detect and follow the sun across the sky to reflect the maximum amount of light possible.
