Big stink about nothing in capri
Officials in the Italian resort of Capri say a ban has been lifted on the island's Blue Grotto and that tourists can resume exploring its famed waters...
Capri environment commissioner Alessandro Esposito says tests of the Mediterranean cave's sparkling blue waters found they are fine. In other words, Esposito said on Thursday that "absolutely no pollution" turned up in the tests.
Samples of the water were analysed after a fisherman this week noted a nauseating smell and an unexplained whitish foam in the grotto.
Earlier this month, police discovered that raw cesspool sewage was being dumped into the cave's waters, but it wasn't clear if the dumping was linked to the smell or the foam.
Tourists take rowboats to enter the grotto on Capri, a picturesque island off Naples.
