Overseas property news - Croatia ‘cheaper than portugal’

Croatia ‘cheaper than portugal’

Croatia house prices are better value than those in Portugal and Turkey, it has been claimed...

Global Property Guide estimates that the average price in the country is €2,215 per square metre, making it cheaper than Turkey or Portugal. However, the site does show that popular areas are considerably more expensive. For example, houses in Dubrovnik can cost between €300,000 and €1.4 million.

On the popular islands, which include Hvar, Korcula and Brac, homes can cost similar amounts. Despite this, it is possible to still find some bargains. For example, smaller apartments on Korcula and Brac still Change hands for less than €100,000.

House prices on the rise

In further good news, figures from the latest Knight Frank Global House Price Index reveal that Croatia has seen strong growth over the last year.

The annual rate of 11.6% growth to Q4 2007 was marginally lower than that to the previous quarter at 12.1% to Q3 2007, though this still appears to resemble something of a return to form for Croatia, after rates of house price inflation dipped to below 6% towards the end of 2005.

The highest values per square metre for residential property are found in apartments in the capital Zagreb. The value of property on the Croatian Coast is around 90% of that in the capital.
