Female of the species
The proportion of women buying property in the Russian capital of Moscow rose by 18 per cent in Q1 2009, compared to the final quarter of last year, according to report published by the DOKI real estate agency...
Women now make up 39 per cent of all homebuyers in the city, whereas for the whole of last year just 21 per cent of sales were to women.
A glance at buying trends shows that in Q1 of this year 82 per cent of all purchases of two or three-bedroom apartments shows that the majority of women are now more concerned with living nearby to convenient locations for shopping and transport access, rather than, as opposed to having medical facilities and schools nearby.
But the female segment of the market is considerably older than the Male segment, with women aged 41-57 buying 26 per cent of all homes in Moscow, while women aged 25-40 accounted for only seven per cent.
