The resort has welcomed 30 per cent more visitors in the 2013-2014 season so far compared to the same period in 2012-2013. The figures, which are good news for any investors in Bulgarian ski property, back up data on TheMoveChannel.com, which shows that resorts such as Pamporovo and Bankso are the most popular among buyers.
The number of early reservations for the ski resort was so high that BUlgarian National Radio expects the high rate to be maintained for the whole of this year's ski season. Over half of the visitors are Bulgarian nationals, notes Novinite, with domestic tourists accounting for 60 per cent.
Artificial snow has been used to make up for high temperatures and a relatively low level of snow in the Rhodope Mountains, but Pamporovo's figures show that an avalanche of people is happening regardless.
The flock of visitors follows news that a British company held talks with the mayor of Southern Bulgarian city Smolyan about the construction of a new skiing resort in the area. Plans to boost Bulgaria's number of ski resorts would also expand facilities at Pamporovo.
